A while ago I added some news items about my brother Paul Gogo, Uncle Joe Gubbels and cousin David Gogo. Paul is the keyboard player for Trooper and had a newspaper article written about his keyboard collection.
David's newspaper article is about his tour in Europe. David is a blues guitarist, singer and songwriter. The most famous Gogo alive today.
Uncle Joe has been doing wonderful things to help out the earthquake victoms in Peru. Uncle Joe used to be a priest and a missionary in Peru years ago but continues to help in his old parish. He's a hero. They named their new school after him. Well, he, the towns people and his friends built it.
My mother, Dodie Gogo, recently celebrated her 50th anniversary of playing the organ at Mount St. Peter's church in Nanaimo, B.C. Also, I asked my Mom a couple of months ago if I could borrow her concertina. She took it down from the shelf where it had been for 50 years and realized that she had not ever played it for some of her family and friends. She then embarked on her Farewell Tour. Within about two weeks time, she had played for more than 200 people including some of her kids, grandchildren, her church choir, a couple of parties, people who popped in for a visit and the neighbours.
She then put the concertina in the mail and sent it to me here in Toronto. I practiced up to play a piece in my Oktoberfest show. It was fun but not as easy as I thought it was going to be!
