Marie’s “Day Job” is preparing and performing her own theme shows with her accompanist in seniors’ clubs, seniors' homes and adult day centres in the Greater Toronto Area. (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) They also perform for Private Parties for Seniors such as Birthdays and Anniversaries.
A few years back Marie played the “Marg Osbourne” role in the touring show Memories Of Don Messer’s Jubilee, staring Tommy Leadbeater and Linsey Beckett. On the local scene, Marie occasionally appears with her combo, Marie Gogo and Bathtub Gin, which consists of top Toronto musicians Ron Johnston, Cam Jobson and Don Guinn. Their usual haunt is the Scarborough Civic Centre Sunday Serenades.
During her fourty something years as a professional singer/entertainer, Marie Gogo has been the lead vocalist with several groups and has sung in a variety of musical styles. She has worked in recording sessions, musical revues, as a solo performer and recorded three albums called You Were Made For Love and Bouwman, Black And Blue and Crazy He Calls Me. Marie was a variety performer in The Gaslight Follies for fours summers, a musical about Canadian artist Emily Carr called The Wonder Of It All, in Victoria, B.C., an outdoor musical romp called Just For Fun at the Butchart Gardens in Victoria and the leading lady in The Frantic Follies Vaudeville Revue in Whitehorse, Yukon for seven seasons. Another career highlight was when she played Daisy Mae in 'Lil’ Abner in her hometown, Nanaimo, B.C.
Marie has toured, recorded and won a Juno award with Jerry Alfred And The Medicine Beat. She happily toured Canada, Germany and Norway with Jerry Alfred And The Medicine Beat and toured parts of
Canda and Germany with Wynona Sue And The Turnpikes as a backup singer/dancer with her BFF, Amada Leslie, with whom she also recorded and shared the role of Leading Lady in the Frantic Follies.
During the Christmas season, her solo recordings We Won’t Be Home For Christmas and Big Warm Hearts can be heard playing on radio stations across the country. Stations such as CBC North in Whitehorse, Yuknow and AM740 ZoomerRadio in Toronto.
